DigitalSignage.com Expands into “Internet of Things” with Arduino and Vera Integration
Westlake Village, California (PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- DigitalSignage.com, a leader in both enterprise and entry-level digital signage products announces smart business integration with connected devices compatible with the company’s flagship digital signage offering, the SignageStudio. The latest push provides greater control of powerful, custom-built interactive digital experiences using the SignageStudio and other connected devices. Now with Arduino and Vera integration, the SignageStudio allows advanced interactive experiences to be custom-built into a digital signage presentation.
The latest version of the SignagePlayer gateway can now send and receive triggered commands through the Arduino Yun. These commands include both TX/RX events due to interactions from a user or specific TX/RX events due to specific triggers. The SignageStudio also now supports Vera which allows any signage player to communicate directly sensors, switches and relays. The Vera, a system typically known for its integration with smart home technology, can now be used to deploy “smart business” applications, including control, interactivity and enhancement of digital experiences, out-of-home.
A good example of how to integrate the Internet of Things into a digital signage network would include a retail display at the point-of-purchase or a custom digital signage installation at a museum or art gallery. When a user interacts, moves or triggers a specific event like touching an item, a button or triggering a motion sensor, the digital display and media player provides a custom playback based on the triggered event. Integrating a specific story, educational piece or advertising message further enhances the interactive power of digital signage as a very targeted method of end-user communication.
In addition to the company’s expansion into web-connected devices for greater interactivity,
the SignageStudion now supports scripting. Using ActionScript 3 compiler, users can now develop their own script compiler for listening to events and running triggered responses based on specific conditions. For more information on active scripting, click here for the video tutorial.
“Not only does our integration with these new smart business devices provide a more powerful reason to implement digital signage, but the ease of implementation is much more simple than most companies realize,” says Sean Levy, MediaSignage CEO. “Integrating interactive experiences into your digital signage is now easier than ever. Even someone with little to no technical experience can simply follow our detailed video tutorials for increasing interactive control.”
Point of sale terminals, networked warehouses, inventory controls, employee communications and customer interactivity are all now much more easily enhanced by including these smart business technologies with a digital signage network. “We expect the use of these integrated solutions to only increase over time. As digital signage awareness continues to expand, so will the demand for more smart interactive solutions. We’re just hoping to get in front of the demand curve with some of these new feature releases,” says Levy.
