Discovery Charter School Raises Roughly $8,000 Through Krispy Kreme Doughnut Sales
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) October 08, 2013 -- Amidst the budget crisis currently facing the Philadelphia School District, teachers and faculty find it very challenging to provide staffing, basic supplies, and essential tools necessary for an effective learning environment. Krispy Kreme Philadelphia is offering the opportunity for schools to raise these much-needed funds for resources and programs.
Recently, the Krispy Kreme fundraising program was implemented at The Discovery Charter School of Philadelphia, which was able to successfully raise over $8000 for underfunded programs.
With the whole school (grades K-8) involved, Discovery Charter School sold 1670 dozen total of Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed doughnuts. In addition, Discovery sold 106 dozen Krispy Kreme Gift Certificates. From the sales, the school was able to retain 50% of the profits, all of which will support their mission to connect what the students learn within the classroom to “discoveries outside the classroom”.
Krispy Kreme Philadelphia’s Fundraising Coordinator Caitlyn Kelly was proud of the efforts of the Discovery School community. “When the school placed their order of 1670 dozen, I was so thrilled with their success. They are a true testament to how much money organizations can raise with our program." Kelly adds, “I was overwhelmed by the vast involvement of the whole school in their effort. To know that this school can now afford the resources necessary is truly awe inspiring!”

"We never imagined that our efforts would be received so well! We're so proud of our students for their active participation and thankful to everyone who helped Discovery raise the support we needed. It was truly a fun group effort with a delicious outcome."
