Downtown Dog Rescue Announce Community Dog Clinic
Compton, CA (PRWEB) January 06, 2015 -- Downtown Dog Rescue announced today that they will be offering a free spay/neuter clinic at East Rancho Dominguez Park located at 15116 Atlantic Ave in Compton thanks to a $50,000 grant from the ASPCA. The clinic will take place on Sunday, January 18. Dog owners who live in Bell, Bell Gardens, Compton, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount and South Gate are eligible to get their dogs spayed/neutered and vaccinated free of charge by scheduling an appointment by calling 213-403-0129.
The purpose of this project is to reduce the number of stray and unwanted dogs that roam the streets of the south east community, often posing a public safety issue for all community members. Downtown Dog Rescue President Lori Weise said, "By bringing the mobile spay/neuter clinics to the park, we are facilitating more opportunities for families with dogs to do the right thing and get their dogs spayed/neutered free of charge. Many people in the community are still struggling and cannot afford to pay for their dog's surgery."
Compton Community Dog Trainer Larry Hill said, "Spaying and neutering family pets creates more responsible pet owners.”
“Access to affordable spay/neuter services is a crucial factor in saving the lives of animals,” said Matt Bershadker, ASPCA President & CEO. “As part of our commitment to helping save the lives of animals in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, we are proud to support Downtown Dog Rescue’s efforts to provide these services in communities that need them most.”
"The ASPCA is a major part of our success in spaying and neutering so many dogs in this community," said Lori Weise.
Downtown Dog Rescue is a nonprofit organization that has spayed/neutered more than 6000 Compton Community Dogs since 2006. Visit http://www.downtowndogrescue.org to learn more and to support the cause.
