Mastrianna Education Leader of the Year Award by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). The honor is awarded by IACBE to honor members of the IACBE community who are exemplary higher education leaders and who have made significant contributions to an institution of higher education or a higher education organization. The recipients are chosen based on their contributions to higher education, their communities, and the IACBE or the members of the IACBE.
Dr. Shay holds an active involvement with IACBE, having led efforts to earn Franklin’s IACBE accreditation for its business programs. Such accreditation by IACBE signifies that Franklin’s programs have been examined by trained evaluators who ensure that the IACBE’s standards are being met in eight key areas: outcomes assessment, strategic planning, curriculum, faculty, scholarly and professional activities, resources, internal/external relationships, and educational innovation.
About Dr. Pam Shay
Dr. Shay serves as the Vice President for Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness at Franklin University. As part of Franklin’s recent purchase of Urbana University, she also serves as Urbana University’s new Senior Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs and Vice President of Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness. In her role, Dr. Shay leads the transition team and oversees decision making at Urbana, as well as leads collaborative efforts to establish and implement the strategies that will be employed to set Urbana on the path to revitalization
Dr. Shay has significant experience and expertise in the area of accreditation, having led Franklin’s self-study and reaccreditation process for the Higher Learning Commission and the Ohio Board of Regents. This expertise has earned her a leadership role in SAN-O (State Authorization Network – Ohio), requests for presentations to groups at HLC, IACBE, NASASPS and WCET conferences, accreditation consultation, multiple webinar/workshop facilitations. With over 25 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Shay has become an acknowledged expert in the intricacies of state authorizations, governmental and regulatory compliance, and accreditation.
