(PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- Dr Tariq Drabu said “Dental caries is the dental term for tooth cavities and decay. Recent studies have revealed a high number of adults and children suffer with dental caries around the world.”
Dr Tariq Drabu is a leading dentist and specialist oral surgeon in the Manchester area. This Manchester born and educated dentist was one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the UK. With over twenty five years’ experience, Dr Drabu owns the successful Langley Dental Practice and is the Clinical Lead Dentist for Oral Surgery Assessment Clinic and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. He is also actively involved in education and tutors and mentors postgraduate dentists on oral surgery.
Dr Tariq Drabu was speaking about a recent article featured in Dental Tribune website on the number of adults with dental caries. The full article can be read here.
Dr Tariq Drabu in Manchester said “The FDI World Dental Federation recently announced in a press conference the high number of adults and children suffering with dental caries. According to the FDI nearly one hundred percent of adults and between sixty to ninety percent of children around the world have caries. These are exceptionally high numbers and dental problems can eventually lead to health problems in the future.”
Dr Tariq Drabu went on to say “the recent findings mentioned a worldwide problem where only sixty percent of the population have access to dental care. This means there are forty percent of people around the world that don’t get to see a dentist and therefore have an increased risk of periodontal disease and dental caries. This is a sign that there is a definite need for more dental professionals around the world. I am actively involved in education and tutor postgraduate students on oral surgery. I believe the way to combat caries is through increasing the number of dentists entering the industry”
Dr Tariq Drabu closed in saying “in addition to improving the number of dentists around the world, the public need to be educated on oral health and what to look for. As dentists, it is our responsibility to ensure our patients get the best possible care and are aware of any problems which may result from poor oral hygiene. Children should be educated from a young age on the importance of dental care and regular dentist visits. An early understanding may help prevent caries in the future.”
