DrugNews Adds Latest Januvia Warnings And Lawsuit News
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 05, 2013 -- The diabetes drug safety center at DrugNews.net is advising patients taking the medications Januvia or Janumet of updated information on the site. The latest court records from a special federal court show a growing number of patients alleging drugs like Januvia caused cancer*.
DrugNews provides the latest product warnings, recalls, studies and legal news to those taking popular prescription drugs like Januvia. Patients can avoid dangerous drugs, see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
The drug center has added expert health warnings that the popular diabetes meds Januvia and Janumet, sold by Merck, may be linked to cancer.
In 2011, researchers from UCLA discovered subjects given Januvia had increased risks of pancreatic cancer and thyroid cancer**.
In February, the American Medical Association advised diabetes drugs like Januvia can double the risk of pancreatitis, a major risk factor for pancreatic cancer***. DrugNews also learned of a study by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices finding indications in FDA reports that patients taking drugs like Januvia have elevated risks of pancreatic cancer****.
Due to the number of patients who have filed a Januvia lawsuit alleging cancer, cases have been consolidated to a special federal multidistrict litigation court. (In Re: Incretin-Based Therapies Products Liability Litigation, MDL 2452, Southern District of California).
Now, DrugNews has learned that the latest update from the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation shows the number of cases alleging cancer from either Januvia, Janumet, Byetta or Victoza has more than doubled from 60 on September 11 to 150 on October 17*.
Anyone affected by cancer after taking Januvia or Janumet is encouraged to visit the DrugNews Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal options. However, due to the specialized nature of these cases, DrugNews only recommends lawyers who have already handled Januvia lawsuits.
