DrugNews Alert: Court Sets NuvaRing Trials for April Start
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- The birth control safety center at DrugNews.net is announcing updated information on the site for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. A judge recently ruled trials will start in April for a growing number of lawsuits alleging the device caused blood clot injuries*.
The DrugNews resource center is committed to improving the safety of patients using popular prescription drugs by providing the latest warnings, recalls, studies and legal news. Visitors can see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
The resource center has previously added reports linking vaginal ring contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher blood clot rates than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the British Medical Journal published a study suggesting patients’ blood clot risks could be 6.5 times higher**.
Due to the number of women who have filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clots, cases have been consolidated in a special federal court in Missouri. The formal case is known as In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri. The latest court records show the number of cases filed has grown to 1,502 as of October 17***.
Now, DrugNews has learned that U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel, who presides over the litigation, has rescheduled the first trial to start on April 7, 2014*. He also asked that all lawyers provide a count of anticipated cases****.
Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact DrugNews or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible.
Due to the specialized nature of federal MDL drug injury cases, DrugNews only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
