DSC Foundation Hits $2 Million Mark in Grants Awarded
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 27, 2017 -- DSC Foundation recently hit the $2 million mark in grants awarded. DSC Foundation is a conservation program whose mission is to promote, establish, and conduct science-based research supporting sustainable use wildlife conservation and the role of well-regulated hunting.
“DSC Foundation funds scientific research on wildlife issues, conservation initiatives, including anti-poaching campaigns, community enhancement programs and programs to mitigate human-wildlife issues, and education and advocacy efforts,” said Richard T. Cheatham, an attorney and president of the DSC Foundation, who has been a naturalist since age 13.
Projects supported by DSC Foundation include a grant to the Alaska Conservation Foundation in support of a targeted outreach campaign designed to capitalize on and add to the widespread public support within Alaska and the Lower 48 for protecting Bristol Bay from mining proposals; Bear Trust International, with a grant supporting its ongoing efforts to create and disseminate a science-based conservation education program that promotes the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation; and Zambeze Delta Safaris, with a grant to help fund its anti-poaching patrol. Cheatham is also the founder, past president and current member of DSC Frontline Foundation. The Foundation provides financial relief to professional hunters, guides, outfitters and their assistants and rangers who are killed or seriously injured in the course of providing professional hunting services or anti-poaching efforts. “These people are killed by poachers because they are placing themselves in danger in their effort to protect the wildlife,” concluded Cheatham.
