Dyn Building All-Star Lineup Of Technical Talent
Manchester, NH (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Dyn, the worldwide leader in Internet Infrastructure as a Service, today announced the hiring of Matt Larson, formerly vice president of Research at Verisign and Director of Verisign Labs, as its Chief Architect to help set the technical direction of the company.
Matt’s work will be aided by other key technical hirings. In addition to the recent announcement of Chris Griffiths, formerly of Comcast, as its new VP of Engineering, Dyn is also announcing the hiring of Nathan Meyer, formerly of F5 Networks, as Director of Product Management - Traffic Management and Chris Brenton, previously the director of security at CloudPassage, as Director of Security. All of this new technical talent will be working alongside Dyn CTO Cory von Wallenstein.
In his new role, Matt will work closely with Griffiths to lead technical innovation for Dyn and is charged with looking at the company’s systems to ensure they are more scalable, more reliable and higher performing.
“With great interest, I have watched Dyn grow from a startup to one of the most powerful infrastructure companies on the Internet over the years,” Larson said. “They have a proud history and I am looking forward to helping write future chapters. They’ve assembled an all-star team of technical talent and together, and we will do great things for the Internet.”
Prior to joining Dyn, Matt was the VP of Research at Verisign and Director of Verisign Labs where he worked for the past 13 years. Over that time, Matt used his skills as a DNS protocol and operations specialist in various roles. Most recently he led the company’s labs division where he was responsible for applied research, university partnerships and standards bodies and industry forum relations.
Matt began his professional career at HP where he worked until 1997 when he co-founded Acme Byte & Wire LLC, a private consulting and training company that specialized in DNS and Internet security and worked with Fortune 100 companies. Verisign bought Acme Byte & Wire in June, 2000.
Matt is an active participant in the greater DNS community. He has contributed to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF); served as chairman of the board of the DNS Operations, Analysis and Research Center (DNS OARC); as vice-chair of ICANN's Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC); and as a member of ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC).
He is also a published author, having co-written DNS on Windows Server 2003, DNS on Windows 2000 and DNS on Windows NT for the O'Reilly & Associates Nutshell Handbooks series with Cricket Liu. He also collaborates with Liu on the popular Ask Mr. DNS podcast.
“Matt is one of the most revered individuals within the DNS and Internet operations community,” said Jeremy Hitchcock, Dyn CEO. “I could not think of a better person to add to our executive team. Dyn is first and foremost committed to its engineering and technology. The future of both is in very good hands.”
Nathan Meyer spent the last eight years at F5 Networks in various roles in sales and product management eventually rising to the position of Senior Product Manager. Nathan is an expert on DNS and the emerging DNS trends and opportunities.
Nathan will be responsible for all of Dyn’s Traffic Management products, including all DNS products and will be visible in the market and with customers as an evangelist for Dyn and the future of DNS and traffic management.
“Dyn is perfectly positioned to lead the market through the next revolution of cloud based traffic management solutions like DNS,” Meyer said. “I’m excited to be part of the team developing those opportunities.”
For 14 years Chris Brenton has served as fellow instructor at the SANS Institute where he published a number of books on networking and network security. In addition, he runs the educational library for the Cloud Security Alliance. Most recently, Chris worked as the Director of Security at CloudPassage.
“We are looking toward the future,” said Kyle York, Dyn Chief Revenue Officer. “The quality of technical talent we are bringing on board is awesome. These are some of the best and brightest minds in the industry and when I think about all they can accomplish working together I have to pinch myself. Dyn is serious about building a company that will have a major impact on the Internet.”
