Empowering Ourselves, Inc. Relaunches Website
Brooklyn, New York (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- Empowering Ourselves is excited to announce the relaunch of the organization’s website: EmpoweringOurselvesInc.org. The November 2013 release will unveil a fresh new look along with more engaging, interactive, and educational features, helping to forward their commitment to empower black youth.
With a modern layout, the site features the organization’s current initiatives along with their vision to holistically empower the community of Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
The website also offers a greater level of engagement with the organization via the new Empowering Ourselves Blog. With few forums available for black youth to critically analyze topics that are affecting their community, have their voices heard, and exchange dialogue among each other, the Blog will serve to meet those needs.
The new site will still feature the Empowering Ourselves Documentary. As featured on CNN, the primary focus of the documentary is to deter black boys and girls from using derogatory language and the n-word as a term of endearment, however, the overall goal is to empower and uplift black youth.
The documentary follows the organization’s Founder and Executive Director, Jarrett Mathis, as he interacts with black youth through a series of workshops, capturing their thoughts and reactions to the correlation between negative identity defining language and issues present in the black community.
Founder Jarrett Mathis explains, “our efforts are to to empower black youth, reduce violence in the inner-city, and get young people to think seriously about the importance of respect for self and community. He is hoping that “the relaunch will help strengthen this effort.”
