Engineering Excellence Continues with New Leadership at Blue Oak Energy
DAVIS, Calif. (PRWEB) March 30, 2018 -- Danny Lee, PhD, has been named senior vice president of Blue Oak Energy, a nationally recognized solar engineering firm and wholly owned subsidiary of Coronal Energy. Now in his 13th year with Blue Oak, Dr. Lee has become synonymous with the organization, having started his solar career as engineering manager during Blue Oak’s first year of operation. Since then he has headed business development while assembling a team of engineers and designers that have delivered over 2.4 GW of commercial and utility-scale PV systems across North America and abroad. Over the past two years, Dr. Lee has also overseen Blue Oak’s integration with Coronal Energy, a leading solar independent power producer (IPP) that incorporates Blue Oak’s engineering capabilities within its end-to-end development model.
“Danny Lee was the clear choice for leadership at Blue Oak Energy,” said Jamie Evans, executive vice president of Coronal Energy. “He is respected throughout our industry as a solar engineering veteran who combines his intellect and hands-on experience with an easy, customer-centric demeanor that has always typified the Blue Oak brand.”
As senior vice president, Dr. Lee manages the daily operations of the firm, including leadership of a multidisciplinary civil, structural, and electrical engineering team focused on the planning and design of commercial and utility-scale solar projects as large as 300 megawatts.
“Our team is driven by the inevitability of solar energy, and renewables in general,” said Lee. “There’s nothing more gratifying than doing what we do best, which is designing real-world solutions that allow our developer, IPP, and EPC customers to put more solar on the grid.”
Prior to joining Blue Oak Energy in 2006, Dr. Lee worked as a research assistant at the University of California at Davis, while earning his PhD in mechanical and aeronautical engineering. Published in university and scholarly engineering journals, he also holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, a MS in mechanical engineering from Portland State University, and is the inventor of a patented motion sensor.
