ETIAM’s Real-time Video Conferencing Brings Needed Improvement to Patient Care
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- The leading Massachusetts-based medical technology company, ETIAM, is at the forefront of innovation with ETIAM-Connect, which adds the human element to patient care. In their latest edition of the software, ETIAM has partnered with Vidyo to allow videoconferencing in the telemedicine application.
Integrated into the new ETIAM-Connect 4.2 update the telemedicine feature bring a real life telepresence to the physician room, giving the patient the comfort of two opinions from respected professionals and giving the doctor the added sense of security that there has been more than one active participant in the decisions made on a patient.
Instead of sending patient files and x-rays to an additional doctor for a second opinion, doctors can now call upon fellow physicians to review and go over the files for a second opinion while discussing their studies. Not only is the requests and reviews in real-time, but they are also HIPAA compliant through the telemedicine platform.
By allowing the faster, more secure transfer of sensitive patient data, ETIAM has found a way to provide this industry with the means to ensure that every doctor that a patient sees is collaborative with their history, diagnosis and studies. ETIAM-Connect provides a centralized platform for studies to be exchanged, viewed and shared, without the use of CDs containing their sensitive studies and the headache of performing duplicate studies.
“These two services are required for handling telemedicine expertise where access to radiological images and a remote view of the patient are prerequisites to perform an accurate diagnosis [as is the case for stroke patients, for example],” said Eric Bihan, CEO of ETIAM. “With both teleconsultation and image sharing, multiple medical cases can be handled: including second opinion consultations, tele-expertise, remote assistance and multidisciplinary medical team collaboration.”
ETIAM will have active demos of the new Videoconferencing telemedicine solution at the upcoming RSNA annual 2013 meeting. Participants will be able to test the video solution with a real person on the other end. This demo will consist of image sharing between the two platforms, one platform being at the RSNA booth #7208 and the other at the Cambridge, MA office.
