Etymotic’s BEAN® Leads a New Generation of Premium Personal Sound Amplifiers
Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) June 10, 2015 -- In the past, those who found it hard to hear in certain situations had two choices: Opt for expensive hearing aids or try some of the very inexpensive devices advertised on the Internet, in magazines, newspapers and unsolicited e-mails. Lately, a new class of wearable technology has come to market, giving consumers a new and premium “out of the box” hearing health solution. Think of these devices as “readers for your ears,” very much like the reading glasses one might buy at the drugstore. They feature ready-fit eartips, and don’t require a visit to the audiologist.
One such personal sound amplifier, or “PSAP,” emerging from the pack is called The BEAN® from the well- known R&D audio company, Etymotic Research. The BEAN has just come on the market for less than $300, or $549 for a pair. Etymotic also makes the ER4®, the world’s most accurate noise-isolating in-ear earphone, and ETY•Plugs®, the first and highest fidelity non-custom earplugs.
The BEAN uses the warm sounding K-AMP® integrated circuit which has been used in over three million hearing aids worldwide. It fits entirely in the ear, amplifies soft sounds and enhances the hearing experience so conversations become more effective in the car, in meetings, in social situations and at a distance.
The BEAN features a built-in sensor that automatically adjusts to surrounding noise levels. It amplifies soft sounds, while keeping the volume steady on louder noises or even reducing it for extremely loud sounds such as fireworks or the strike of a drum or cymbal. Moreover, The BEAN boosts the soft high-pitched sounds heard in speech, which helps provide clarity for conversation, particularly in less-than-ideal listening environments.
The BEAN, and a group of newly released products like it in the $300-400 price range, are vastly different and superior in sound to the simple, lower-priced personal sound amplifiers that have been on the market for decades. While not intended to serve as full time hearing aids, with occasional use these devices can make all the difference for those who sometimes want to hear one click louder. High-quality personal sound amplifiers are affordable and quickly becoming more accessible. Consumers now have choices.
