(PRWEB UK) 9 May 2014 -- DSG will be providing extended coverage on football.co.uk of the FA Cup Final on the 17th May between Arsenal and Hull City at Wembley Stadium. The match will see Arsenal as overwhelming favourites to lift their first trophy in almost nine years (They were still playing at Highbury when they last won the FA Cup in 2005). The FA Cup has favoured the underdogs over the years and Hull should thrive in that role and have a chance to create history and lengthen Arsenal's trophy wait.
It looked like this year could see an Arsenal double but injuries and loss of form has seen them drop to fourth in the Premier League. In contrast Hull City sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table and were comfortably beaten by Arsenal in December and April so it’s easy to see why the pundits have virtually given the trophy to Arsenal before the match has been played. Hull last beat Arsenal in September 2008 by two goals to one at the Emirates.
Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say: “The FA Cup is still a special trophy in English football and always creates a sense of occasion with a special atmosphere. Arsenal plan a victory parade through the streets of Islington even though they did nothing when they last won the FA Cup in 2003 and 2005 which shows how important this trophy will be for a football club starved of success. We will be following this oldest and greatest of association football cups on our website football.co.uk.”
Jason Hope, Content Manager of DSG believes that this match will end Arsenals trophy drought and perhaps be the catalyst to future success. “At times Arsenal haven’t looked that far short of the finished article but injuries and loss of form to key men, especially Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Ozil has seen them disappoint and their title challenge fall away. It would be a major upset if Arsenal where not to win the FA Cup and although Hull will have nothing to lose its difficult to see where they will threaten Arsenal. Arsenal are rightly favourites and this could prove a turning point that could not only bring future success but provide the foundation for the 2014-15 Premier League challenge.”
