Finn Academy of Elmira, NY Awarded Imagination Playground
Elmira, NY (PRWEB) May 25, 2016 -- Imagination Playground, LLC, http://www.imaginationplayground.com, creators of the breakthrough play space concept that encourages child-directed, unstructured free play, announced today that Finn Academy: An Elmira Charter School of Elmira, New York, is the latest recipient of an Imagination Playground and Play Associate Training through Imagination Playground’s Vote for Play program.
The K-3 charter elementary school opened in 2015, and thus far has been operating without any playground equipment. After learning about the Vote for Play program, the school’s parent group—the “Finn Parent Crew"—stepped in to rally their community to earn an Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks set by garnering the most votes.
Upon learning the news that their school had been awarded an Imagination Playground, Katie Goetz, parent and Finn Parent Crew Secretary, shared her excitement.
“We are a school that focuses on scholar-driven learning and creative expression and we feel that the Imagination Playground is a fantastic tool to encourage scholars to learn, explore, and create while also promoting physical activity. It was obvious to our educators, parents, and community members that the Imagination Playground would provide the ideal combination of hands-on learning and creative play to meet the needs of our school.”
She continued, “We would like to thank all of those who thoughtfully took the time to vote for Finn Academy; we could not have done it without your dedication and support! We would also like to thank Imagination Playground for this exciting opportunity and our scholars will look forward to many years of learning and playing with this amazing equipment.”
David Krishock, President & CEO of Imagination Playground, offered his congratulations to Finn Academy, saying, “This is another great example of dreams coming true when school communities unite around a cause. And thanks to the leadership of the Finn Academy parents, the children of Finn Academy now have access to creative play.”
Imagination Playground’s Vote for Play program allows communities to vote for their favorite school or family center to bring an Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks set to the children they serve. Voting sessions run multiple times throughout the year. Finn Academy is the second school to receive the Vote for Play award in 2016; River Oaks Elementary School of Gulfport, MS was awarded their Imagination Playground in March. Since the inception of Vote for Play, over 30,000 schools and family centers have entered the contest.
Schools and family centers interested in participating in the next Vote for Play session should check Imagination Playground’s Vote for Play web page for updates.
