First Illinois Cultivation Center Begins Production of Medical Cannabis
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 13, 2015 -- Today, Ataraxia announced that it will open its doors to begin growing what the group believes to be the first round of medical cannabis in Illinois. Ataraxia, which is a Latin term meaning “a state of freedom from emotional disturbance and anxiety,” is cultivating genetics to address all of the conditions approved for treatment under the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program.
“We feel a profound sense of responsibility and share a deep commitment to making sure patients have the ability to benefit from a diverse product selection and targeted strains to help relieve their symptoms and live an overall improved quality of life,” says George Archos, chief executive officer of Ataraxia.
Ataraxia’s 52,000 square foot state of the art clean-lab facility uses the most advanced technology and a proprietary nutrient feeding system to facilitate a consistent year-round grow cycle, ensuring the highest quality medicine for Illinois patients.
The group has done extensive research and has tapped the nations leaders in cannabis cultivation to bring “Cannabis Cup Winning Strains” to the Illinois market in addition to CBD rich medical strains that are proven effective for many conditions including children with epilepsy. Ataraxia is working with local dispensaries throughout Illinois to distribute their Gold Leaf ™ product line, which will consist of oils, edibles, creams, vaporizer pens, a variety of premium flower and other treatment options.
“There are a lot of moving parts that have come together to get us to this point and we are thrilled to have taken this giant step toward making medicinal cannabis available to patients throughout Illinois,” says Ross Morreale, chief compliance officer of Ataraxia and chairman of the Medical Cannabis Alliance of Illinois. “We have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and want to commend the Rauner Administration for working collaboratively and diligently with the industry to get this program off the ground.”
Ataraxia completed a multi-faceted approval process before earning authorization to grow including an on-site inspection from the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Capitol Development Board and Illinois State Police and its employees underwent background checks. Ataraxia is based in Albion, Illinois and will continue to accept applications from qualified individuals on its webpage ataraxiamm.com.
