Five ProRehab-PC Physical Therapists Become Board Certified Specialists
Evansville, IN (PRWEB) July 19, 2016 -- ProRehab-PC is proud to announce that Aaron Goelzhauser, Will Tank, and Melissa Tolbert have received training and earned the professional designation of Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), while Jenna Gourley and Kyle Pierson have received training and earned the professional designation of Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS).
The OCS and SCS Board Certifications are granted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)’s American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) and involve rigorous application and examination processes. Roughly 6.5% of the physical therapists in the United States are Board Certified in a specialty, and only 3.9% of therapists in the United States are Orthopaedic Clinical Specialists. Fewer than 1% of physical therapists are Sports Clinical Specialists.
“These therapists will be joining the large group of ProRehab therapists who have already achieved board certifications through the APTA,” said Pat Wempe, DPT, SCS, CEO of ProRehab-PC. “ProRehab therapists have a higher percentage of board certified therapists when compared to the national average. This establishes a standard of clinical excellence in care that puts ProRehab in the forefront of physical and occupational therapy in our region.”
The advanced clinical knowledge and skill set that comes with a Board Certification allows therapists to better treat the patients in their specialty and keeps them up-to-date with cutting edge research and technology. The OCS certification focuses on evidence-based practice, orthopedic injury examination, treatment, and medical interventions while the SCS certification concentrates on acute and critical sports injury treatment and sports injury prevention and wellness.
“We offer our sincere congratulations to the five therapists who received their Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and Sports Clinical Specialist certifications,” comments Wempe. “We’re incredibly proud of the hard work they put in to earning these designations, and the passion for their profession that this hard work reflects. We look forward to seeing how our patients benefit from their expertise.”
