Gaddi H. Vasquez Named Chairman of the PCI Board of Directors
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 06, 2014 -- In PCI’s annual meeting of the Board of Directors on August 2nd, Ambassador Gaddi H. Vasquez was elected Board Chairman of San Diego-based PCI (Project Concern International). Vasquez will spearhead the strategic direction of PCI’s efforts to expand its work to prevent disease and promote sustainable development in 16 countries around the globe.
“Ambassador Vasquez is a recognized leader in both the global development and business communities, and we are thrilled to have him at the helm of PCI’s Board of Directors,” said PCI President & CEO George Guimaraes. “His background and expertise in leading efforts to combat global poverty will be a tremendous asset to PCI as we continue to grow and work to improve the lives of millions around the world.”
Vasquez served as the U.S. Ambassador and permanent representative to United Nations Agencies based in Rome from 2006 to 2009, working specifically with the World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization. From 2002 to 2006, he was the Director of the U.S. Peace Corps, overseeing the agency’s programs in 78 countries. He is currently the senior vice president of Government Affairs for Southern California Edison and Edison International.
