George Heck Resigns From Coffee Regional Medical Center
LENEXA, Kan. (PRWEB) December 09, 2013 -- George L. Heck III has resigned his position as president and chief executive officer of Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC). His successor will be announced at a future date.
“George has had an outstanding career with Coffee Regional Medical Center and he will be missed,” said Matt Greer, chairman of CRMC’s board of directors. “George’s dedication, hard work and leadership have enabled Coffee Regional to provide the highest quality of care to our patients. He has had a tremendous impact not only on the growth of the medical center, but the communities of Douglas, Coffee County and surrounding areas.”
Heck’s leadership team has helped Coffee Regional Medical Center, an 88-bed acute care facility in Douglas, Ga., to become one of the leading not-for-profit healthcare providers in the state of Georgia. During Heck’s tenure, the medical center has continued to grow and evolve services to meet the needs of the community and deliver the best care in the region. In addition to providing wellness and emergency care, CRMC now offers a wide range of services from OB/GYN and cardiology to pediatrics and orthopedics.
Under his leadership, CRMC built a new medical center in 1998 and has received numerous state and national recognition awards for providing quality care and patient satisfaction. CRMC was recently voted the “#1 top small hospital in Georgia” by Georgia Trend Magazine. The medical center was also named by the Joint Commission as “2012 Top Performer” for the second year in a row. Other distinguished awards include Rural Hospital of the Year by the Georgia Rural Health Alliance and Small Hospital of the Year by Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals.
Before joining CRMC, Heck held senior management positions at four acute care hospitals, as well as an executive position for the state of Connecticut at the Commission on Hospitals and Health Care.
Heck earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., and attended Rutgers University in N.J. for graduate studies. He is a member of numerous national, regional and local organizations, including Georgia Hospital Association, Georgia Governor’s Council on Maternal and Infant Health, Douglas/Coffee County Chamber of Commerce and South Georgia Hospital Authority. He is also a member of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) and Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
