George Pegg Encourages Addicts to Change Their Lives
CHICHESTER, England (PRWEB) July 13, 2013 -- Approximately 33,000 people die due to alcohol-related causes each year, according to Alcoholics Anonymous of Great Britain. George Pegg recounts his story of how he avoided being another statistic in his new memoir, "Jack and Jill Went Up the Hill" (published by AuthorHouse).
Pegg sets out to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. "I don’t pull any punches. It is exactly how it is said." The book chronicles the alcohol and drug addiction of Jo and Elle. Jo, the alcoholic, represents Pegg’s struggle with addiction while Elle is an amalgam of drug addicts that he had known. The addictions wreak havoc on the characters’ lives, mirroring several events in Pegg’s past.
People currently dealing with addiction will be able to relate to Pegg’s straightforward prose and the role of choice in the novel. Pegg says, "Having been taken to the brink of death by a bottle, the choice was to live or die."
Pegg believes the book will inspire other addicts. He refers to addiction as a death sentence and wants to help other reverse their sentences. "The book has been written as simply as possible, to relate to people who are confronted with the problems of drug and alcohol."
