George Walton joins HNTB as project director
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) August 15, 2016 -- George Walton, PE, joined HNTB Corporation as project director and vice president. He is based in the firm’s Tampa, Florida, office.
Walton has 31 years of multimodal transportation sector experience with expertise focusing on corridor studies, transit, managed lanes, environmental documentation and public engagement. He has contributed on high-profile projects in numerous parts of the country including Maryland’s Purple Line and Capital Beltway studies, a number of transit-oriented studies in Tampa, and several elements of the Tampa Bay Express.
Walton brings a unique blend of technical, operational, team building and civic engagement skills to HNTB. “George offers tremendous experience in delivering a diverse mix of complex transportation projects across the country,” said Charlie Herndon, PE, HNTB Florida district leader and senior vice president. “His expertise provides our clients valuable insights on their most pressing infrastructure challenges.”
At HNTB, Walton’s responsibilities include developing client relationships, leading project teams and delivering complex transportation projects.
Walton has been involved with several organizations over his career including the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Transportation Research Board and both the Tampa and Central Florida Partnerships. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Virginia Tech.
In West Florida, HNTB serves the Florida Department of Transportation, Tampa International Airport, Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority and currently is working on, or has been involved with, some of the most high-profile projects including, completion of the master plan at Tampa International Airport, Selmon Expressway reversible express lanes and vehicle test bed, and assisting FDOT Central office with its automated vehicles support contract.
