Gilbane Completes Auto Technology Project at Evergreen Community College, San Jose
(PRWEB) March 03, 2016 -- Gilbane Building Company, a global leader in construction services, is happy to announce that construction has been completed on Evergreen Valley College’s Auto Technology project. This is an important technical training facility for the college and the Evergreen community. In 2010, voters of the San Jose Evergreen Community College District passed Bond Measure G, providing funds to upgrade both their San Jose City and Evergreen campuses.
Henry Yong, the President of Evergreen Valley College thanked the voters for approving Measure G 2010, and said “the new building will allow EVC to offer state-of-the-art training to students looking to enter the dynamic automotive technology industry.”
The Automotive Technology (Auto Tech) Building at Evergreen Valley College will expand the college’s mission of the college to provide an environment that cultivates personal and intellectual growth, and prepares students for meaningful employment. Gilbane has been the construction management company overseeing the project. The building is approximately 25,800 square feet and consists of four labs/shops with 14 lifts, as well as 5 classrooms and specialized features for automobile manufacturer sponsored repair programs.
“This project was carefully planned to accommodate current needs, future growth and technological advances (alternative fuel cars) in automotive transportation”, says Mark Miller, Senior Project Executive, Gilbane Building Company, “this is a very exciting time for the District as well as the community, and we are happy this important project has been successfully completed.”
The purpose of this effort was to create a facility that will meet needs of technical community college students by providing educational training opportunities and continuing skills development for working adult students.
