Girls Allowed: Mango Bikes Launch The Curve
London (PRWEB UK) 21 September 2013 -- Mango Bikes, the acclaimed manufacturer of fashionable, single speed bikes, has launched The Curve in a bid to encourage more women into cycling.
This brilliant, Dutchie-style ladies bike has all the hallmarks of a Mango Bike, particularly the bang on combination of style and substance; but The Curve also provides more comfort with girls in mind.
The popularity of cycling in the UK continues to soar, and commentators attribute this to a number of factors. One is Britain’s unprecedented sport cycling success since The Beijing Olympics, in addition to the general inspiration provided by London 2012. But these aren’t the only reasons.
Over recent years, an increase in environmental awareness and green-thinking has led many to leave their cars on the driveway in favour of a bike. Others might have had their hand forced by the cost effectiveness of cycling over a petrol-powered commute. These factors might account for the fact that road bikes continue to grow increasingly popular while mountain bikes slump.
Whatever the reason, the UK is enjoying a biking boom. London continues to emulate Amsterdam, Berlin and other great European cities with schemes and incentives for cyclists; while many major clothing brands are expanding their collection to include specific cycling ranges.
Yet despite the popularity of cycling, women remain underrepresented in a male dominated pursuit.
Cycling is enjoyed predominantly by middle class, middle aged men with the expendable cash to splurge on a hi-tech, feather-light carbon fibre bike. Women account for just over a quarter of bicycle journeys in the UK; and they are represented even more poorly at official events.
The bike industry has even been accused of patronising women riders, since ladies bike ranges are generally fewer in number and usually amount to provide smaller versions of male bikes and accessories; most of which are often only available in pink.
The Curve has arrived to change all that. The brilliant fixed gear bikes allow girls to get around in style and comfort. Dull colours and angular designs are out and a fluid contemporary design, with a choice of breathtaking colour schemes, is very much in.
Of course, looks aren’t everything but The Curve is a real bike, built to the same high spec as the brand’s Custom and Black Series models.
Mango Bikes have already been seen in magazines like Bike Radar, Square Mile, and Easy Living, and orders for The Curve are already pouring in. It’s a sign of the pent up demand from women in the UK for quality bikes which they can be proud to be seen on as they make their way around town, around campus, country paths or beach fronts.
Jezz Skelton, Director of Mango Bikes, said: “We have designed and built a frame that gives and amazingly comfortable ride and also looks great.
“The popularity of The Curve proves that girls love getting around on their bikes as much as the guys do, and that’s why we were so keen to create a bike which catered perfectly to them. Our dream is to see The Curve in every city we visit, and we’ve made the bike as affordable as possible to make that dream come true.”
