Glenda Hyde Reaches out to Military Families in New Book
Modesto, Calif. (PRWEB) October 09, 2013 -- Since its beginnings in March 2003, about 190,000 civilians and military persons have been killed in the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Now, author and mother Glenda Hyde steps forward to tell the story of her beloved son who was tragically killed in Iraq after just five months of service in, “24 Years and 40 Days: The Story of Army 1LT Daniel Hyde, January 25, 1985-March 7, 2009” (published by AuthorHouse).
“Daniel Hyde mattered,” writes Hyde of her only son, “and so does every individual who was willing to say, ‘Send me, yes, I will serve.’”
Daniel touched the lives of the multiple people he encountered in his civilian and military life. Hyde reveals insights into his life as a child and includes testimonies from friends and family who knew and loved Daniel. Through her story, Hyde hopes to honor the stories of other men and women who have lost their lives, while serving in the military.
An excerpt from “24 Years and 40 Days”:
“As I was talking, I managed to find the phone and call my father-in-law. He lives close, but before he arrived, in less than ten minutes, I got those men to tell me that my one and only brilliant, beautiful son had been killed earlier that day in Iraq. He was only five months into his first deployment.”
Hyde describes her book as “a testament to the many lives that can be touched by the goodness of one person and a lesson in the importance of kindness.” She hopes to bring comfort and peace to parents whose children have gone before them, and to military families whose lives have been altered in any way, since September 11, 2001.
