Going Mobile Can Be Easier with CM First WebClient
Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- John Rhodes, CTO, CM First Group announced today the latest version of CM WebClient Mobile for CA Plex, releasing version 1.8 SP1 to key customers and partners. “WebClient helps customers move CA Plex applications rapidly to web and mobile, without recoding their client-server interfaces. This new release adds important features to help make it easier, faster and more feature-rich. Our customers have been asking CM First to provide more mobile capabilities and this release is the answer.”
The latest release of CM WebClient Mobile includes new themes, icon menus, audio and video, advanced geo, and access to device email and address books. Other new feature included for enterprise app development include camera / file upload, signature capture, local storage, and embedded HTML pages and forms. Support for Adobe Cordova (PhoneGap) is provided to facilitate publishing WebClient apps to the various app stores for native app deployment to customer or employees.
A major component of the release is support for additional device families, including Windows Mobile 8 and BlackBerry. This will enable developers to release their apps from a unified code base to all popular mobile tablet and phone platforms. Additionally, WebClient-generated functionality can now be deployed to Windows 8.0/8.1 and Mac desktops as native apps. These features make it possible for the CA Plex developer to deploy converged apps that provide the same basic user experience whether the end user is on mobile, tablet, or their computer.
“As people migrate away from direct contact with companies, and the BYOD trend accelerates for employees, organizations must embrace mobile and provide support for all the phone types and operating systems,” notes Christoph Heinrich, CEO. “For companies, this requirement is very challenging. How can an IT department provide applications that support all the diverse platforms? One answer is CM WebClient used with CA Plex.”
United Heritage Insurance is one of the customers that have deployed apps to Apple and Google apps stores. “United Heritage has successfully deployed mobile insurance-quoting apps to our agent network. Our agents utilize a wide variety of devices. CM WebClient made it possible to deploy these apps from a IBM i/Websphere back-end architecture, using existing CA Plex business logic. We are pleased with the results, and plan to investigate the Windows Mobile deployment options available in the new release,” said Roger Griffith, Manager, Life Software Development, United Heritage Life Insurance Company.
CM WebClient provides a rich internet application (RIA) generator which works with the CA Plex model-based rapid application development platform. Transform legacy business applications efficiently and easily with no need to recode or retrain developers. The new release of CM WebClient provides the most-requested capabilities to give companies the power to compete on the mobile battlegrounds.
