Grand Opening—The First Verse at Adagio Vineyards North Carolina Winery
Elkin, North Carolina (PRWEB) April 15, 2014 -- The wines are bottled, the music is playing, and the doors are open. The public is welcome to attend the opening of Adagio Vineyards located at 139 Benge Drive in Elkin, NC 28621 on Friday, April 25th, 2014, from 12-5 pm. Adagio Vineyards will also be open on Saturday, April 26th from 12-5 pm and on Sunday from 1-5 pm. The Grand Opening celebration will take place on Saturday, May 3rd from 12-5 pm and will include a barbecue by Chef Jeff Gibbs of Twenty One & Main and music will be provided by The Bridge Makers folk group.
The concept for Adagio Vineyards began in 2006 and after clearing land to cultivate the vineyard, the first grapes were planted in the spring of 2009. The first production has birthed four wines: Vivace, Coda, Chardonnay, and Chaconne. Vivace is a white wine blend made predominantly with Traminette grapes, while Coda is a dessert-style Traminette. The Chaconne is a red wine blend of Merlot, Tannat, and Petite Verdot. The 2014 harvest will produce even more types of wine including an Estate Chardonnay and Arandell red wine.
Adagio Vineyards is proud to reveal its 2,400 sq. foot winetasting room built atop the underground winery. The state of the art, rustic winetasting room boasts three tasting bars and space for up to 70 guests. Here guests can experience fine wine as well as explore the process of crafting handmade violins.
The fruition of Adagio Vineyards has been comparable to the musical meaning of “adagio,” a slow tempo. Just as the fermentation of a fine wine and the composition of a handcrafted violin cannot be rushed, the journey to develop a vineyard is just as delicate. Starting with fewer than 1,000 cases of wine, Adagio Vineyards has the capacity to produce 3,000 cases as they flourish.
Both practicing dentists, Dr. Tim and Dr. Jan Wahl, envisioned and developed Adagio Vineyards from the ground up. “We started with a dream, which with passion, became an obsession,” said the Wahls, “through education and inspiration came a plan, and with patience and maturity it has come to fruition. We are delighted to finally share our dream and passion!”
Tim has a winemaking certification from the University of California at Davis and is a member of the Guild of Sommeliers. Jan is a classical violinist and violinmaker, having played for the Brevard Symphony Orchestra and having studied violin building under the late German master Karl Roy at the University of New Hampshire.
The Wahls have combined their passions to establish Adagio Vineyards, where guests are invited to explore the sensation of both wine and music. While there are a few notes written on the manuscript of Adagio Vineyards’ journey already, their song has yet to truly begin. Adagio Vineyards looks forward to welcoming the community to share in their Grand Opening celebration.
