Greece vs. Nigeria Tickets: Ticket Down Slashes Prices on Greece vs. Nigeria Tickets at PPL Park in Chester, PA
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- Ticket Down announces that Greece and Nigeria will play in conjunction with the "Road to Brazil" at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania. Several of the best soccer teams in the world will be competing in an event being hosted by Major League Soccer called the “Road to Brazil.” The event features 10 teams competing in seven games including several that will be flying to South America for the World Cup. Those teams include the defending World Cup champion Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ivory Coast, Honduras, Greece and Nigeria. The last two, Greece and Nigeria, will be competing in the fourth match of the event when they take the pitch on June 3 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.
Greece is currently ranked as the 13th best team (as of press time) in the world according to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. The team qualified for the World Cup this year by finishing in second place of their group, losing a tie-breaker because of goal differentials to Bosnia and Herzegovina. With an 8-1-1 record, Greece had one of the best marks of any team qualifying for the event and will be looking to put on a show in Group C when they take on Ivory Coast, Colombia and Japan in Brazil. They didn’t make it out of the Group Stage in the 2010 World Cup, but has a better team this time around.
The Nigerian national soccer team is one of the best in Africa. They are only ranked as the 47th best team (as of press time) in the world by FIFA, but the talents that can found on their side of the field is usually easy to spot. They will be making their fifth appearance in a World Cup and will be looking to get out of the Group Stage for the first time since the 2002 tournament. In their last two appearances, they were winless and finished last in their group.
Nigeria will have a solid mix of youth and veteran presence on the pitch for this match and when they travel to Brazil to compete in Group F against Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina. They might not make it out of their group again, but that won’t stop Vincent Enyeama, John Obi Mikel, Elderson and Victor Obinna from trying their best against Greece in this friendly matchup.
The Greece national soccer team will be led onto the field by their captain, Giorgos Karagounis. Karagounis is the most capped player in team history and will be joined by the third-most capped player in team history, Kostas Katsouranis. The third leading goal-scorer in team history will also take the field against Nigeria, as Theofanis Gekas and his 24 goals will look to add to his total.
PPL Park is a soccer-only facility that was opened in 2010. The facility is home to soccer action every MLS season, as the venue is the home of the Philadelphia Union. For soccer matches, the facility has a seating capacity of 18,500 fans, but with these two teams competing, they may look to add extra seats along the way. The facility has hosted events other than soccer since opening, including being the host venue for the Big East Men’s Soccer tournament.
