Hermann Hosts an Event Full of Organic Foods and Local Wine
Hermann, MO (PRWEB) August 30, 2013 -- The Missouri Rhine Valley Association would like to announce their “Building a Bridge From to Table” event, scheduled for Saturday, Sept 7th. This spectacular day will begin with a train ride on Amtrak from Kirkwood Station to Hermann Missouri, in the heart of The Missouri Rhine Valley.
A pre-boarding Continental breakfast will be served featuring assorted scones from Hummingbird Kitchen. Upon arrival in Hermann, guests will board a private coach and have the opportunity to tour the nation’s oldest family owned vineyard, Adam Putcha Winery. Tim Putcha will debut the winery’s newest vintage complemented by creations by Chef, Eddy Neill of Dubliner (St. Louis) and Café Provencal (Kirkwood). Chef Neill will compose pairings for “The First Taste,” which will feature a variety of foods sourced from our Missouri Rhine Valley producers.
Guests will then enjoy a private tour of the Deutschheim, a Missouri State Historical Site. Site administrator, Cindy Browne, will direct the tour. The history of “Little Germany on the Missouri” will come alive. View collections of priceless heirlooms, tour the historic four square garden and catch a glimpse of German life as it was in the 1800’s. A selection of four locally produced Norton wines will be offered. Chef Neill will be serving a box lunch, highlighting meats, cheese and vegetables grown in the region.
A trip across the Missouri River will take guests to the McKittrick Mercantile. The “Merk” is on the National Register of Historic Places. Joey Loos and Rich Lauer will extend their hospitality to the group. Prior to dinner, a cocktail hour on the patio will feature our newest area stars: the Distillers and Microbrewers.
Chef Neill will delight with a grand meal featuring: Le Grande Aioli; his main course, Choucroute of Birds; followed by a traditional German dessert tart. Local wines will complement each course.
