iLab Solutions Hires Gerard Gibbs, Director of Business Development, Asia Pacific
Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 01, 2015 -- Industry leader iLab Solutions recently announced Gerard Gibbs as its new Director of Business Development, Asia Pacific. In this newly-created position, Gibbs will lead iLab’s business operations in the region, with an emphasis on expanding the awareness and use of iLab’s suite of tools. This entails not only introducing iLab to potential partners but support and management of accounts and relationships as well. From this leadership position, Gibbs will help iLab expand to meet the needs of the region.
With over a decade of professional experience in scientific research, Gibbs brings a strong awareness of the region and its research needs. After spending years doing scientific research of his own, Gibbs knows firsthand the variety and magnitude of problems researchers and research administrators face on a daily basis.
“We are excited to have Gerard on the iLab team,” stated Heather Lorenz, VP Business Development. “His familiarity with Australia and the surrounding region, as well as how core facilities operate, is invaluable. In addition, his outstanding leadership skills will help us accomplish our mission to provide effective solutions to support research to this region.”
Since 2009, Gibbs has strived to streamline research efforts in Australia by leading initiatives that increased exposure of core facilities and improved operational effectiveness, all with a fundamental objective of improved research outcomes. Gibbs has worked across all levels at leading research institutions, providing insight into both the daily operational and organisational strategic challenges.
Most recently, Gibbs worked as a Manager of the Victorian Platform Technologies Network (VPTN), a network of more than 140 research core facilities across 30 research institutions. Gibbs had a leadership role in the development and deployment of a facility management service for members of the VPTN. This position provided Gibbs with a comprehensive understanding of shared resource facilities, as well as the facility management industry as a whole. He was involved with both the implementation and support of the VPTN platform, providing experience in testing and refinement of the system, as well as communication with both clients and developers.
In Gibbs' new role, he will focus on the Asia Pacific’s diverse area, including his native Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, among other countries in the region. His experience provides iLab a strategic advantage as he fosters and grows iLab’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
