Interdean Explores Volunteer Opportunities for the Elderly Abroad
(PRWEB UK) 13 September 2013 -- It has been reported in Herald Scotland that International Development Organisation, VSO, is looking to recruit retired adults across fields such as agriculture, town planning, business advisory and particularly teaching and medical professions. It comes as research from the charity shows that 60% of retirees feel their professional skills and experience has been wasted since they retired. Additionally, the survey revealed that almost half (49%) of retired adults feel less valued by society.
Director of VSO UK, Angela Salt explains that, “The experience and skills of retirees are very much required for our work overseas tackling poverty. VSO volunteers share their skills in a way that leaves a lasting legacy.”
Providing excess baggage shipping services for more than 50 years, Interdean are experienced in both permanent and temporary moves, offering a flexible service that benefits students, backpackers and volunteers alike. A representative from the firm shares their thoughts on the recent news.
“This seems like a great opportunity for retirees to put their skills to good use. Often those who have recently retired are more qualified to deal with certain situations, having acquired more experience than most. The chance to do this abroad also means they are able to see more of the world at the same time. At Interdean we customise our services to suit each individual customer, so whether you are relocating permanently or just need a few essentials shipped for a few months we’re on hand to help.”
