InterDev Chief Security Officer Earns Ethical Hacker Certification
(PRWEB) September 26, 2016 -- InterDev, an Atlanta-area provider of information technology and security services, today announced that Director of IT and Security, Chief Security Officer Daniel Schultheiss has earned the prestigious designation of Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). Awarded by the world-renowned International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), the CEH credential certifies individuals in the specific network security discipline of Ethical Hacking from a vendor-neutral perspective.
Ethical Hacking is often referred to as the process of penetrating computers with official permission to determine if vulnerabilities exist and to undertake preventive, corrective and protective countermeasures before an actual compromise to the system takes place. Certified Ethical Hackers are highly skilled professionals who use the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker— but in a lawful and legitimate manner—to find weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems with a goal of more fully assessing their security.
“InterDev is committed to ensuring our customers’ security at the highest possible level,” said InterDev CEO Gary Nichols. “This designation confirms Daniel’s expertise to lead our teams not only to find security holes in clients’ networks, but also to effectively test whether vulnerabilities we identify can be exploited.”
To qualify for the certification, Schultheiss first took a specialized training class covering the 270 attack technologies commonly used by hackers. The class also provided immersion into a hacker's mindset, focusing on evaluating and penetrating both logical and physical security. In addition, Schultheiss performed extensive self-study to gain a thorough understanding of the many tools used by a certified ethical hacker. To attain the certification after qualifying, Schultheiss took and passed a four-hour, 125-question exam.
“Daniel’s certification underscores our pledge, as a security-focused managed services provider, to continually invest in security for the benefit of our clients,” Nichols concluded.
