iUniverse Title “Gorging Out” Optioned by Thruline Entertainment
Bloomington, Ind. (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- iUniverse, an Author Solutions provider of supported self-publishing services, announced today that “Gorging Out”—the debut novel by Robert MacNeill—has been optioned by Hollywood’s Thruline Entertainment. The option provides Thruline with an exclusive period to acquire the rights to the book for the purposes of producing a feature film based on its plot.
Released on Halloween 2011, “Gorging Out” was discovered by Thruline as a result of MacNeill taking advantage of iUniverse’s Book-to-Screen Services, which give authors access to Hollywood decision-makers. “The screenwriter who was working on the treatment alerted us that ‘Gorging Out’ had a fantastic plot,” said Caroline Weiss, director of media services at Author Solutions’ Los Angeles office.
The optioning of “Gorging Out” doesn’t guarantee that the title will become a major feature film, said Keith Ogorek, senior vice president of marketing for Author Solutions, parent company of iUniverse. The journeys authors and their books take from the printed page to the silver screen are as varied and unique as the books they write, but having a book optioned is the first step.
Lisa Genova, whose iUniverse title, “Still Alice,” was acquired by Simon & Schuster in 2009, will see the title make it to the big screen when it is scheduled for release in 2015. The feature film’s star-studded cast includes Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth, Julianne Moore and Alec Baldwin.
