Jamie Lee Curtis Faces Liability for Car Crash
(PRWEB) August 19, 2013 -- Actress Jamie Lee Curtis was injured in a car accident this month when her SUV crashed into another car. Although details of the accident have been kept under wraps, victim advocate and personal injury attorney Pius Joseph says that the actress may face legal liability for the incident.
Curtis was a passenger in her black Yukon SUV, according to the Denver Post (08.02.2013). The SUV struck a BMW on a crowded street, sending both Curtis and the BMW driver to the hospital. Curtis' driver has not been identified in reports.
Joseph is the founder of the Law Offices of Pius Joseph and a passionate defender of accident victims. He says that if the unidentified driver worked for Curtis, she would share liability for the damages.
“Normally whoever causes an accident is liable for medical bills and damaged cars,” Joseph said. “From the reports it sounds like that was Curtis' driver, but if he was her paid chauffeur then she could potentially be sued.”
Joseph says that would be an unusual move in most cases, but against a major actress it might be more likely.
“A victim has a choice to sue any or all of the parties responsible for an accident,” he said. “That way even if one party can't pay the damages, the others can. It's to protect those who were hurt.”
News reports say that the other driver was injured more seriously than Curtis, who was released from the hospital the same day.
