Kellye Cash Performs Patsy Cline Hits to Help Youth Town
Jackson, Tenn. (PRWEB) November 30, 2013 -- The Cedar Grove Opry was filled to capacity on Thursday evening, Nov. 21, as a couple of hundred guests gathered to support Youth Town. After enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by Wanna Casey, Teresa Irvin, Lynn Pappas, Teresa Jones, Lisa Miller, Eliza Forbes, Deloria Haynes and Woodmen of the World, guests mingled in the church building that Mike and Mena Roby restored and opened for events this year. Mrs. Kathryn Tyler, CarSmart of Memphis and FirstBank sponsored the evening.
After Youth Town participants greeted guests and read an original poem, the evening was dedicated to long-time Youth Town employee Bobbie Coley. The Morgan Briar Bluegrass Band performed before Miss America 1987 Kellye Cash, Youth Town spokesperson, performed a variety of Patsy Cline songs. Former executive director Nick Pappas made final remarks and gave a closing blessing. The support of board members, donors and volunteers raised $8000 that evening to help young men through Youth Town.
Youth Town Executive Director Dr. Pepper Pratt commented on the event, saying, “The Patsy Cline event was a tremendous time to gather with people who love Youth Town, share fellowship in a novel venue and enjoy a West Tennessee treasure — Kellye Cash Sheppard. I am grateful for all who came and blessed Youth Town and for development director Mike Roby's making the evening such a classy experience.”
