Kimbia Opens Give Local America® Registration to All Nonprofits
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) January 28, 2015 -- Kimbia has officially opened registration for Give Local America (GLA)—a nationwide crowdfunding event focused on local giving and impact—to all nonprofit organizations, including those outside of its community partners. The inaugural event, held May 6, 2014, successfully met its goals of showcasing the good work being done by nonprofits, encouraging donations outside of the normal giving season and inspiring large numbers of new donors. In total, 300,000+ donors from 9,500 cities donated $53.7 million to 7,000+ nonprofits in 120+ communities, the largest crowdfunding event in history. A significant portion of donations (up to 66% per organization) were from first-time donors, and GLA donor demographics proved that crowdfunding donors span all age groups, and have a high net worth, making them attractive recurring and major donors. Registration for this year’s May 5th event closes on March 31, 2015.
In response to the overwhelming participation requests from nonprofits following last year’s event, led primarily by local and regional community foundations, Kimbia has expanded GLA. All nonprofit and higher education institutions are now invited to register for this year’s event through the Give Local America website, which features a wealth of free information and tools designed to help prospective participants plan and host a successful event. Resources include a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, information for promotional partners and sponsors and an event planning and optimization toolkit. The toolkit includes proven practices and easy-to-use communication templates assembled from over 50 Kimbia-powered giving day and crowdfunding events, all intended to minimize event-related staff time. This year, Kimbia will also provide access to a third-party foundation for gift processing for those organizations without a community sponsor.
“Crowdfunding events are one of the few campaigns that engage donors of all ages—from the millennials needed to future-proof nonprofit missions, to baby-boomers who now donate more online than via direct mail, to seniors in a position to leave bequests,” said Dan Gillett, Kimbia’s Chief Executive Officer. “These highly cost-effective events also excel at attracting large matching funds and a large percentage of new donors. Even in its sixth year, Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day recruited 26% new donors.”
