Korean Indie Hits Kickstarter to Crowdfund Minesweeper RPG
Seoul, South Korea (PRWEB) October 17, 2014 -- Following on the heels of Fakedice, Korean indie studio Wispsoft is taking to Kickstarter to find funding for their minesweeper-based game, Spirit Sweeper. The tiny team of three developers hopes to bring Minesweeper to the masses by wrapping it in a package of RPG and battle arena elements.
Spirit Sweeper maintains a casual approach that Minesweeper fans will love, built around a fun and dynamic RPG. Taking place in a fantasy world of Golems, Witches and Knights, players can unlock and choose from 8 different characters to conquer their friends and battle Internet strangers for sweeper supremacy. Rather than sweep for mines, however, the goal is to be the first to find ten spirit stones.
“Spirit Sweeper opens up a whole new layer of strategic and fun options to a classic game that people love,” says Yong-Eun Jung. “We think it will appeal to old fans and newcomers alike around the world.”
To that end, Wispsoft has turned to Kickstarter to raise the last $5,000 they need to help finish the game. Though the core game is almost 80% finished, Wispsoft hopes to raise enough to add both a single player Story mode and a Hardcore mode, similar to the “expert” level in classic Minesweeper.
Backers will find themselves rewarded with various tokens of thanks including post cards, photos, cereal, t-shirts, and even the chance to design a new character. If all goes well, the core game will launch in Korea on iOS and Android on November 4th, with global release pending on the success of the Kickstarter campaign.
