Kurt Herron’s New Book Offers Real Running Stories
Old Hickory, TN (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- In his new book “Strides and Struggles: 12 humorous stories of running marathons” (published by AuthorHouse) author Kurt Herron shares a dozen of his favorite running memories with readers.
The stories in “Strides and Struggles” take place across the Midwest and eastern U.S., places like Nashville, Tenn., Washington D.C., Indianapolis, Virginia Beach, Va., and more. Herron’s stories all revolve around running, but also touch on homeless people, shingles, going home, death, floods, a near ambulance ride, beanie weenies and even hemorrhoids. “You will laugh, you will cry, and you might even sing a song,” Herron says. “You will feel the pain of running 26.2 miles and the joy of crossing that finish line.”
An excerpt from “Strides and Struggles”:
“Running the race of life is just like running a marathon. During each race you have to keep focused on the finish line. Otherwise you may veer off the course or completely quit. Each runner has a different goal. Some may be running to raise money. Some may be running because a friend invited them. Some may be running to honor a loved one. Some may be running to win or better their PR (personal record) time. Yet with all these different goals, all runners have the same basic goal: to cross the Finish Line. Hopefully we can follow God’s path and do His Will while running these races.”
“Many running books are by ‘elite’ runners that readers can’t relate to,” Herron explains. “Mine will make you laugh and inspire you.”
