Local Company to Host International Construction Show
(PRWEB) September 17, 2015 -- The Charlottesville, Virginia based management company of Hardiman-Williams LLC (HW) is no stranger to planning and delivering successful events and conferences for its non-profit clients like the Modular Building Institute’s (MBI) World of Modular conference. But next week, the company will experience something different as it manages the Offsite Construction Expo at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, D.C. They will experience ownership in the event and everything that comes with it!
In addition to planning and delivering the expo, HW is the owner of the event, incurring all the financial risks and potential rewards. As it stands, the event looks to be about a quarter of a million dollar venture in terms of expenses. The company’s managing member, Steven Williams believes the event will be profitable for the firm, which employs six people including the owners.
“We take an innovative approach in everything we do and strive to think outside the box, not only for our association clients, but also for our own management company. Seeing a need for a tradeshow on offsite construction methods, and realizing no one association was interested in organizing or carrying the risk of such a show—especially in a complex market like Washington, DC—HW stepped in with financing, advertising, planning, staffing, and strong relationships with partners like Global Experience Specialists (GES) and HelmsBrisco,” said Williams.
Managing member Tom Hardiman concurred. “Unlike most association management companies, HW takes a more entrepreneurial approach to business. We are always looking for opportunities that match our skill set,” he said. “This event was just outside the scope of MBI (the company’s main trade association client) so we worked with them to create a mutually beneficial plan that gave them great exposure without financial risk and allowed us to pursue this opportunity.”
Despite the uncertain economy and restricted corporate travel budgets, the event is on track to be deemed a success by HW, with over 600 attendees from twelve countries, including ten government agencies, seven of the nation’s largest general contractors, and numerous hotel and multi-family developers and architects.
“We could not have done this without the support of our seventy or so exhibitors,” said Hardiman. “We also want to thank the National Institute of Building Science and all the other host and supporting organizations for helping to promote the event.”
