Local Former Marine Opens Window Genie, Looks to Hire Veterans
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) June 02, 2015 -- Window Genie announces the grand opening of its newest location in West Chester on June 8th. Pete Wilson is the owner; he’s a local Marine Corps Veteran who graduated from Lakota High School and Miami University. Window Genie is a Cincinnati-based national home service franchise specializing in residential and light commercial window cleaning, window tinting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and more. Window Genie was founded in Cincinnati in 1994 by Rik Nonelle and has since grown to a system of over 80 franchise partners operating in over 200 markets in 25 states. Window Genie of West Chester will service the northern Cincinnati communities including West Chester, Middletown and Hamilton.
Before purchasing a Window Genie franchise, Wilson spent his post Miami U years in the Marine Corps, serving our country for 14 years 1993-2007 including a tour in Iraq. Wilson said, “When I returned home my goal was always to open a business, so I went back to Miami and got my MBA.”
With what felt like infinite opportunities for business ownership, Wilson employed the help of franchise coach Beth Veach of The Entrepreneur’s Source. Together over the past two years, they were able to determine which business opportunity best fit his interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses. They agreed on Window Genie as Wilson’s best fit. Wilson said, “I think my time in the military as an active duty officer helped me develop management and problem solving skills needed to juggle the responsibilities of being an owner. Window Genie’s business model is fairly simple, the overhead is low and there is a great deal of opportunity for growth based on the multiple services and multiple revenue streams available year-round. Not to mention the corporate office is just down the street, so I know all the help, guidance and support I need is both a phone call and a short drive away.”
Wilson is excited to open a business in the community he grew up in, creating jobs for veterans. “A huge part of the Window Genie culture is giving back and staying connected to our communities through service; I plan on hiring veterans, helping them get back to work, as well as contributing to a number of community service efforts to help connect myself and Window Genie into my hometown.”
