Local Photographer Named Gold Medalist at International Photographic Competition
Carmel, IN (PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- Jim Wyant of Wyant Photography in Carmel, Indiana was named a Gold Medalist during Professional Photographers of America’s 2013 International Photographic Competition. He will be honored at PPA’s annual convention, Imaging USA, January 12-14, in Phoenix, Arizona.
PPA members receive these medalist designations by earning a merit - a mark of quality and honor - for each of the four images included in their entry case to the International Photographic Competition. This is the most prestigious competition of its kind, where images are judged based on a standard of artistic excellence, not against each other.
The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Loan Collections, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions and other photography events. Jim Wyant was named a Gold Medalist, meaning that two of his four merited images entered the PPA Loan Collection. In 2013, he was one of 59 Gold Medalists.
“These photographers have reached a prestigious achievement,” states Randy McNeilly, PPA’s Photographic Exhibition Committee Chairman. “It takes dedication to achieve the consistent quality and creativity necessary to earn the title of Gold Medalist on one of the world’s most celebrated photography competitions. While Jim will be receiving this award at PPA’s International Convention to be held January 2014 in Phoenix, the real winners will be his clients who have commissioned the work!”
Professional Photographer of America (PPA) is the largest international non-profit association created by professional photographer, for professional photographer. Almost as long-lived as photography itself, PPA has roots back to 1869. It has never stopped growing and looking for new ways to assist its now 26,000 members through protection, education and resources for their continued success in the industry.
Jim has celebrated 27 years of photography in Carmel, Indiana.
