Local Promoter's Campaign to Resurrect Music Festival via Crowd-Funding
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- Local music promoter EyeHeartSF is waging a campaign to bring back their now fabled 'Summersalt' music festival this coming September on the 14th (New Location TBA). It's been almost three years since Summersalt debuted in San Francisco at Fort Mason Center, highlighted by musical performances by acts such as Zion-I, The Rapture, K.Flay, Music For Animals (Nova Albion), and an impromptu performance by hip-hop original Warren G.
The quest to revive this locally beloved festival is taking the "future forward" approach of 'crowdfunding.' That is, they’re asking fans, friends, local music lovers, and the San Francisco community to chip in ahead of time to 'Crowdtilt' the event. Don't know what a 'CrowdTilt' is? It's like a 'Kickstarter' for any type of event from a birthday party to, in this case a music festival, and you are not charged until the event "Tilts." However, this particular event, according to 'CrowdTilt', would be one of the first-ever crowdfunded music festivals and could quickly make history as the largest-ever crowdfunded event!
EyeHeartSF co-founder, Nate Mezmer, has seen the recent explosion of "mega festivals" funded by large corporations, which sometimes can have a very stringent and sterile vibe. "Once upon a time, Music festivals were about getting a trailblazing group of like-minded people together to build something unique, in hopes to enjoy music, art, food and generally just feeling free from the everyday grind," said Mezmer. "With Summersalt, we are striving to build something that feels very real using that same approach, to create a home grown festival pheneomon that focuses on the individuals experience, from the way they are able to learn about new music, to the manner in which they are able to interact and share the experience with others."
The event producers are planning on launching the campaign at 10am on Thursday morning (July 11th, 2013), with the goal to raise a minimum of $15,000 in a few weeks time to help "Tilt" the event. Here’s a sneak peek of their promo video (http://youtu.be/jsXxcgNr0I8), where you can hear from some of the EyeHeartSF guys talk about their three-year long journey in efforts to bring back their "Indie & Summer" fest.
BTW, It's also for a good cause! By financially contributing to the "Bring Back Summersalt" campaign, supporters will help to raise money for "Mural Music & Arts Project," a local non-profit organization that offers year-round youth development programs centered around music and the arts. One of their target schools in San Francisco is Star King Elementary school which recently lost funding for their MMAP program, and this event would serve to help reinstate that initiative.
