Localphone Employees Get Third Place In The Great Yorkshire Run
(PRWEB) October 04, 2013 -- Last Saturday, September 28, 2013 Bupa’s Great Yorkshire run took place in Sheffield and a group of four Localphone employees led by Stuart Grimshaw, a Software Engineer, decided to take the challenge and run the 10k to raise funds for the Hallamshire Boys FC, a local children’s football club.
The Great Yorkshire Run is an annual event that has been held in Sheffield, England since 2007. Runners compete on the streets from the city center, past the famous Hillsborough Stadium where Sheffield Wednesday FC play. Over 6,000 people joined the race this year, including the four Localphone participants. The number of participants keeps growing every year, and this year the Localphone runners took third place in the Small Business category. The team has been training since May 2013 when they registered for the run.
Stuart Grimshaw commented last week, “Running a grassroots football team is an expensive business and while the kids are going to be warm this winter in their new coats, we still have plenty of money to raise, which we do through things like match ball sponsorship. The kids have been great. When they heard I was running to raise money for them, they decided to complete a sponsored triathlon to help fund the team too! I was very surprised and very pleased when I got the results through and saw that we came in 3rd place.”
