(PRWEB UK) 22 January 2014 -- According to BBC news article Dated November 28th 2013: Cheryl Cole wins US X Factor payout, The singer's spokesman could not disclose details of the settlement but confirmed to the BBC: "Cheryl's dispute with Blue Orbit has been resolved amicably."
BBC reports that pop star Cheryl Cole has received a payout from the producers of X Factor USA, who fired the singer after filming just one episode of the show in 2011. The 30-year old star’s participation in the show was canceled because the producers of the show feared that the audience and the viewers wouldn't be able to understand Cole’s Newcastle accent. She sued Blue Orbit, the company producing X Factor USA, for 2.3 million dollars (£1.4m). The contract was a so-called “pay or play”, meaning that it was a guaranteed contract in which the would be entitled to a full amount specified in the contract, even if she was let go from the popular show. In her legal case, Cole said she had been paid for the first series, but the rest of her salary was not forthcoming. She was also not paid further expenses, including a $100,000 (£61,000) wardrobe allowance, a $25,000 (£15,000) allowance for her stylist, $15,000 (£9,200) per month for a hotel or apartment in L.A. and a $2,500 (£1,530) monthly living allowance. The case was settled of court, and the singer was payed an undisclosed amount. The producers never provided an official reason for Cole’s departure, but it transpired Cole had initially been signed up for two series of Simon Cowell's talent show.
