Love is Sweeter in Cambria: A Timeless Romantic Retreat
CAMBRIA, Calif. (PRWEB) February 07, 2018 -- Couples can create a sweet adventure that celebrates those little moments of sharing a glass of wine, dessert or the sunset as they walk on the beach. However couples design their stay, Cambria can speak their love language.
WINE TASTING
Famous for world-class wineries and vineyards, no trip to the Central Coast would be complete without a wine tasting excursion. One highly anticipated event is the 4th annual BlendFest wine festival, happening February 9th through 11th. BlendFest is the perfect outing for any couple looking for a romantic weekend of fun, food and wine. Couples can taste blended wines from 30 renowned wineries of Paso Robles at Hearst Castle. They can also enjoy the Grand Tasting or the Winemaker Dinner, and even take a blending seminar to become a winemaker for the day.
Couples shouldn’t forget to grab a bottle of wine or two for later. Cutruzzola Vineyards is another estate winery, offering varietals in their tasting room in Cambria’s West Village. Their vineyards are just moments outside of town, where ocean air creates unique flavors in their grapes. Visitors can also enjoy many more tasting rooms in Cambria, and all along the Pacific Coast Wine Trail.
SHARE A SWEET DESSERT
One of the sweetest things about Cambria is its famous olallieberry pie. From the Olallieberry Inn to Linn’s Fruit Bin, olallieberries are everywhere—they thrive in the Central Coast climate, and are used in recipes and restaurants all around town. During couples’ romantic getaway, they can share a slice of olallieberry pie and find out what all the fuss is about. Then, they can take home an olallieberry-flavored souvenir to keep the memories of their magical adventure alive. Linn’s sells take-and-bake pies, but they also have jams, jellies, salad dressings, syrups and beyond that keep visitors mouths watering long after their trip is over.
STROLLING AROUND
No morning (or evening for that matter) in Cambria is complete without a stroll on Moonstone Beach. Couples can meander along the one-mile boardwalk, famous for its dramatic coastline and breathtaking views. They can also spend time searching for tiny moonstones, exploring tide pools or watching sea otters frolic in the waves.
If couples are looking for a quiet spot away from it all, they can take a romantic hike on the Bluff Trail at Fiscalini Ranch. It’s here that they will experience some of the most stunning scenery on this mountain path that winds alongside the Pacific Ocean. The dramatic ocean bluff runs more than a mile along the shore, rising to a 400-foot ridge offering breath-taking views of the horizon. With access to tide pools, this is the perfect place to explore local marine wildlife and spot migrating whales, birds and playful sea otters floating in the kelp forest. Couples should also pack a picnic, bringing along a blanket and a bottle of wine to enjoy a romantic sunset dinner on the bluff before heading back to town.
The Historical Society’s self-guided Walking Tour offers couples a glimpse of the town’s historic architecture up close. They will see original historic buildings, structures, and lavish homes of Cambria’s founding families now restored and operating as thriving businesses. Tours of the famed Piedras Blancas Light Station tell the story of a lighthouse first illuminated in 1875 to serve as a beacon for sailors navigating the rugged coastline. After touring the restored lighthouse, couples can explore the surrounding buildings and grounds of this historic park and wildlife sanctuary.
EVENING ACTIVITIES
Evening Tours at Hearst Castle offer a special glimpse into a bygone era. Couples can experience the grandeur and romance of 1930s Hollywood as they wind their way through the legendary 250,000-acre estate. Docents dressed in period attire bring the castle to life as couples tour this American castle featuring 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools, walkways and Hearst’s world-famous art collection.
Staying in Cambria until sunset treats couples to a spectacular view as the setting sun paints an awe-inspiring picture across the horizon. Couples can head back to Moonstone Beach and find a spot along the boardwalk to take out the bottle of wine they bought earlier. If they’d rather stay cozy indoors, couples are invited to enjoy some local talent at one of the many locations offering live music.
Wherever they go and whatever they do in Cambria, couples are sure to disconnect from their worries and connect with their other half. Couples can plan their getaway at VisitCambriaCA.com.
