Manhattan College Partners with Barnes & Noble to Open New College Bookstore
Riverdale, NY (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- As Manhattan College prepares to open the Raymond W. Kelly ’63 Student Commons later this year, the College has partnered with Barnes & Noble College to operate its new bookstore effective immediately. The store will operate, temporarily, out of the College’s Leo Hall, until construction on the student commons is complete in summer 2014.
“We are excited to partner with Barnes & Noble College in a new venture that will benefit both the College and the community,” said Brennan O’Donnell, president of Manhattan College. “The store will provide state-of-the-art course support and service to students and faculty, and will strengthen ties with the neighborhood by being accessible to Riverdale book lovers as well.”
The bookstore will be located on the second floor of the student commons, named for alumnus and former New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly ’63. The building will formally open in fall 2014.
In addition to traditional textbooks, an expanded selection of Jasper apparel, laptops and other technology-related products will be available. The bookstore will also carry trade books, current and popular reads, supplies and other educational materials.
With Barnes & Noble College’s Campus Connect technologies, students and faculty will have access to the largest selection of course materials in several cost-saving formats — rental, used, digital and new. These innovative solutions include course fee programs, multi-platform LMS integration strategies, real-time student financial aid modules, and Barnes & Noble’s simple Registration Integration online ordering system. Faculty will also gain access to a groundbreaking online community, FacultyEnlight (http://www.facultyenlight.com), a streamlined textbook adoption platform that combines advanced search capabilities with detailed information on course material formats, pricing and reviews by other faculty.
Through Barnes & Noble College’s textbook rental program, students can save an average of 50 percent off the price of a new textbook.
Manhattan College is one of 69 higher education institutions that Barnes & Noble College partners with in the state of New York, including Columbia University, Fordham University and Baruch College. Nationwide, Barnes & Noble College operates more than 700 campus stores.
“We’re extremely proud to have formed our new partnership with Manhattan College,” said Max J. Roberts, CEO, Barnes & Noble College. “We’re looking forward to offering its students, faculty and alumni a dynamic bookstore, focused on delivering a retail and digital learning experience that complements one of New York City’s finest schools.”
