Mashable Announces Christopher Miller as Its Senior Correspondent
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 24, 2014 -- Mashable, the leading media company for the Connected Generation and the voice of digital culture, announced today that it has hired Christopher Miller as its senior correspondent.
Since last year, Miller has been a freelance contributor to Mashable’s in-depth coverage of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Reporting from Kiev and cities in eastern Ukraine, Miller covered all aspects of the crisis, from the protests and violence in the bitterest months of winter, to the ouster of President Yanukovych, to the Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the shooting down of MH-17.
In his role as senior correspondent, Miller will continue to cover developments in the political and military standoff between Ukraine and Russia, but in coming months he will be filing dispatches from other parts of the world as he reports on global topics that resonate with Mashable’s audience.
“This is a great moment for Mashable,” said Jim Roberts, Chief Content Officer and Executive Editor. “Chris has been instrumental in helping Mashable strengthen its voice on world events, and we are enormously excited about the prospects of him expanding his coverage into other topics and regions. I’ve worked with him long enough to know that he will be a fantastic addition to Mashable’s editorial team.”
Prior to joining Mashable, Miller served a writer and editor at Kyiv Post in Ukraine, where he covered business, politics, social issues and technology. Over the past nine months he has reported extensively on the conflict in Ukraine, most recently covering the ongoing fighting between government troops and pro-Russian separatists in the eastern regions of the country.
In 2012, Miller also worked with the Institute of Mass Information, writing and translating stories about press freedom violations and journalists’ rights leading up to Ukraine’s parliamentary elections. He has been published in The Telegraph, The Times of London and GlobalPost.
Miller is a graduate of Portland State University and was a volunteer for the Peace Corps. He joins Mashable on October 20 and can be found on Twitter at @ChristopherJM.
