Master Blenders of Rum Gather in New Orleans
New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- A distinguished group of master blenders of rum from leading brands today announced they will meet for the first time in New Orleans in mid-July, inviting select members of the spirits trade to learn more about their finest expressions. This Legends of Rum meet and greet tasting event is organized by Robert Burr of Rob's Rum Guide.
"We're pleased to welcome these great master blenders of rum to a special gathering as part of the annual Tales Of The Cocktail convention held in New Orleans. Here is a unique opportunity for beverage industry professionals to meet the legendary figures responsible for creating the world's finest expressions of rum," said Burr.
The event takes place on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 4:30 to 6:30pm at the Fleur de Lis Suite of the Royal Sonesta Hotel at 300 Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Among those attendance will be:
Manny Oliver is the Senior Master Blender at Bacardi, with 37 years of direct involvement in the making of Bacardi rums.
Richard Seale of Foursquare Distillery in Barbados has developed and produced many fine rums, including Doorly's, Rum 66, R.L. Seale, Tommy Bahama and Real McCoy. He's currently preparing to produce 10 Cane.
Mount Gay Rum's Master Blender, Allen Smith, has been overseeing the brand's blending and maturation facilities for more than twenty years and recently introduced the brand's newest expression, Mount Gay Black Barrel.
Tito Cordero has held the position of Master Ronero at Destileria Unidas of Venezuela for 24 years, developing and creating Diplomático and numerous other fine rum brands.
Alexandre Gabriel of Plantation Rum is the winner of many awards for his assortment of fine rums from the Caribbean region, rested in Cognac barrels and blended in France.
Vidia Doodnath of Angostura manages the distillation, aging, blending, packaging, maintenance and laboratory operations of one of the leading rum producers in the Caribbean region.
Phil Prichard of Prichard's Distillery in Tennessee is a pioneer in the resurgent trend of authentic American craft rums, producing a number of acclaimed expressions.
As Master Blender, Lorena Vásquez of Zacapa oversees the blending and barrel aging process of Zacapa, always staying true to her quest for perfection, impeccable judgment and passion for spirits.
