McCoy Named President of the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas and Louisiana
San Marcos, Texas (PRWEB) April 25, 2015 -- Brian McCoy, President and CEO of McCoy’s Building Supply in San Marcos, TX was recently elected President of the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas and Louisiana (LAT).
LAT is a non-profit trade association that represents building material suppliers from both Texas and Louisiana. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, LAT works predominantly on state legislative and regulatory activities. They are a member-driven association and the majority of their dealer members are independent, family-owned businesses.
The McCoy family has been involved with LAT since the late 1970s when their emerging company operated five stores in Texas. Since then McCoy’s Building Supply has grown to 86 stores in 5 states while cultivating a 30 year, three generation connection to LAT. Founder Emmett McCoy, Brian McCoy and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Meagan McCoy Jones have all served on the LAT Board of Directors, and Emmett and Brian were both honored as Lumberman of the Year in 1990 and 2008 respectively.
When selecting a president, LAT seeks individuals who bring leadership skills, integrity, and previous experience on the LAT Board and committees, not to mention those who are respected by peers, competitors and suppliers alike.
“We were so excited when Brian volunteered for this position because that is the best way members can offer their services,” explains Barbara Douglas, Executive Vice President of LAT. “Brian brings a tremendous amount of value to the association through McCoy’s longtime loyal membership and the many professionals in the company who have worked with or been members of LAT committees in the past.”
“I’m excited that our industry is an integral part of the ‘building up’ of the communities we serve,” shares Brian. “Our dealer members play such an important part in our states growth.” Brian’s term as President began in April and will continue through 2016 during which time he will connect with members to determine how the association can better serve them while also working to increase membership.
Additionally, Brian is looking forward to using his time as President to help bring awareness to issues that affect members and associate members of LAT. “While we often compete in the marketplace, there is value in cooperating in areas that affect us all such a reviewing legislation that impacts our business or participating in training that improves our operations and safety,” he explains.
McCoy’s is one of the nation’s largest privately held building supply retailers. It has provided quality building products and services to its “Born-to-Build” customers since 1927 and has earned the loyalty of builders, contractors, ranchers and serious do-it-yourselfers across five states.
