Mercy Health Offers Diabetes Education
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- Mercy Health Youngstown, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, will offer diabetes education Jan. 20 to 22 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and at Hospice House in Boardman.
The three-day course runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day at both locations and is certified by the American Diabetes Association.
Healthcare professionals who teach the course focus on the medical aspects of the disease such as medications, glucose monitoring, exercise and complications during the first session, and meal planning, counting carbohydrates, interpreting food labels and making positive food choices during the second and third sessions.
“These classes provide participants with the knowledge they need to manage their diabetes and avoid the long-term complications the disease can cause,” says Kay Leonhart, manager, diabetes education, Mercy Health Youngstown. They are offered throughout the year at three Mercy Health Youngstown locations: St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, St. Joseph Warren Hospital and Hospice House.
Registration is required. Please call 330-480-2676.
