Milton Hershey School’s 2015 Yearbook selected as a Balfour National Sample
HERSHEY, Pa. (PRWEB) March 09, 2016 -- Milton Hershey School’s 2015-16 yearbook, Acropolis, has been chosen as a national sample by Balfour, a yearbook publishing company. Less than three percent of the publications Balfour produces each year are selected.
“We ask for a lot of extracurricular commitment from our students,” said Emily DiFebo, MHS yearbook advisor. “They put their heart and soul into their work.”
To receive the honor from Balfour, the Acropolis yearbook was initially judged on a 1000-point national rubric. Its final score was 920 out of 1000 points, and the score was based on components such as graphics, writing, margins and typespace.
"It is a great feeling knowing that all of our hard work has paid off on a scale much larger than just the Milton Hershey community,” said Vinnie Caroselli, a senior at Milton Hershey School. “The fact that our work will be represented nationally goes to prove a purpose: even though some assignments may be strenuous, there is a greater goal at the end.”
Balfour plans to use Acropolis as a journalism resource in its continuing education workshops throughout the United States. Other students and schools can use Acropolis as a reference when designing and writing.
“When [the students] finish, they have a product. In most other classes, your finished product is your grade. [In this class] their work has been officially published and is part of Milton Hershey School’s history. Not only that, it’s going to be part of other schools’ history,” said DiFebo.
